The Muse Design Measurement Guide

“Measure Twice, Order Once.” To ensure your new custom sofa or bedframe fits perfectly in your home, please follow our 3-step measurement checklist.

Step 1: Measure Your Space

Before choosing your furniture size, measure the room where the item will be placed.

  • Floor Space: Use masking tape on the floor to outline the dimensions of the sofa or bed. This helps you visualize how much walking space you’ll have left.

  • Rug Placement: If you have an existing rug, ensure the sofa or bed legs will sit comfortably on or around it.

  • Wall Clearances: For bedframes, remember to account for the thickness of the headboard (usually 10cm–20cm) and the space needed for nightstands.

Step 2: Measure the “Path of Entry”

This is the most common step people forget! You must ensure our delivery team can get the furniture into the room. Measure the width and height of:

  1. Front & Interior Doors: Measure from the inside of the door frame.

  2. Stairways: Check the width of the stairs and the “turn” clearance at any landings.

  3. Elevators (For Condos): Measure the door opening and the internal height/depth of the lift.

  4. Hallways: Ensure there are no tight corners or low-hanging lights that might block the path.

Step 3: Account for Furniture “Bulk”

Custom furniture can be bulky. Keep these in mind:

  • Sofa Depth: Ensure the sofa isn’t so deep that it blocks a walkway or a door swing.

  • Bedframe Height: If you have a very thick mattress, let us know! We can adjust the headboard height so your pillows don’t hide the beautiful design.

  • Leg Height: If you use a robot vacuum, make sure to request a leg height of at least 10cm–12cm.

Not sure if it will fit?

If you live in a condo or have a narrow staircase, send us a video of your entry path! Our team can review it and advise if we should build your sofa in “modular pieces” (split into two or more parts) for easier delivery.
